Privacy Policy

The Solo Economy ("we", "us") publishes explainer videos on YouTube and runs this website at soloeconomy.tv. This policy explains what information the website and its private admin tools handle, and why. We keep it deliberately small.
What we collect
Visitors to this website
You can read this site without an account. We don't use advertising or third-party tracking cookies. Our servers keep standard technical logs, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, for security and reliability. We delete them within 30 days. The site sets only the cookies it needs to work, such as a session cookie and your light or dark theme preference.
People who email us
If you write to hello@soloeconomy.tv, we receive your name, email address and message, including any attachments. We use them only to read and reply to you, for example about a sponsorship enquiry. Messages are received and sent through our email provider, Resend, and stored in our private admin inbox.
Our own admin sign-in
The admin Studio is private to The Solo Economy's owner. Signing in uses a one-time code sent by email. We store the admin's email address and security tokens, and nothing about website visitors.
Google and YouTube data
Our private admin Studio connects to Google's YouTube Data API and YouTube Analytics API to read performance data about our own YouTube channel, such as views, watch time, subscriber counts and thumbnail click-through rates. This helps us understand what works and decide what to publish. Specifically:
- Access is read-only. It is granted by the channel owner through Google's OAuth consent screen, and it is used only by the channel owner.
- We don't request access to any other person's Google or YouTube account, and we don't collect YouTube data about individual viewers.
- We may publish aggregate channel figures that we choose to share, such as total subscribers, on this website.
- We don't sell YouTube or Google user data, use it for advertising, or transfer it to anyone except as needed to run this service or as required by law.
- Our use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
- By using YouTube API Services we're bound by the YouTube Terms of Service. Google's handling of data is described in the Google Privacy Policy.
- API access can be revoked at any time from Google Account permissions. When access is revoked, we delete stored API credentials, and we delete stored analytics data within 30 days.
Who we share information with
We use a small number of service providers to run the site: Fly.io (hosting and database), Cloudflare (domain and DNS), and Resend (sending and receiving email). They process data on our behalf, only to provide their services. We don't sell personal information.
How long we keep it
Emails stay in our inbox for as long as they're useful for the conversation, and never longer than 3 years unless a contract requires it. Server logs are kept up to 30 days. Analytics data about our own channel is kept while it's useful for planning.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to access, correct or delete the information we hold about you, such as your emails, by writing to hello@soloeconomy.tv. We'll respond within 30 days. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA, and we honour them.
Children
This website isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their personal information.
Security
We use encryption in transit (HTTPS), restrict admin access to allowlisted accounts, and keep secrets out of our code. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect what we hold.
